An interesting look at what may end up happening in the U.S., a review of "American Theocracy: The Peril and Politics of Radical Religion, Oil, and Borrowed Money in the 21st Century," by Kevin Phillips, a Republican who was involved in the Nixon White House and in 1969 wrote a book about the coming Republican hegemony.
Its a really interesting read and I plan to pick the book up.
